Remember that Maula Jutt’s film
where he is fighting Noori Nuth near a railway station and his sister
accidentally hits him with a Gundasa and Mr. Jutt looses his memory. Do you remember
when Austin Powers is trying to catch Goldmember and his girl shoots at his
behind. That is exactly how I felt when the latest James Bond film began, just
a little Glitter Coated with the experience of Hollywood . I am really impressed what one
would try to keep a legend alive. I have been saying and will say again Bond is
dead and please don’t dig his grave any more. The lesson to be learned by this
great endeavor is that Advertising can win you a great market. Really tell me
how long are you people going to achieve that? Sorry I know the answer is
‘until the last fool realizes it’s a lie’. What is the real difference in Maula
Jutt’s film and this one? The answer is in big budget and Hollywood . Finally the have realized that the
terrorist in with in them not us. This film is all about that if you really ask
me.
The Story is secret data go missing, Bond is dead,
Head office blows up, try to regroup, bond is back, the bugger survives
depleted uranium shot to his chest, gets up finds the culprit and finishes him
off then finds the real guy who out wits MI6 and tries to kill ‘M’. Reason you
ask, well he is an old agent left missing in action years ago. That’s about it
for the story.
But, oh boy how many Missing in Action
personnel does the Royal armed force have in recent wars? Don’t look at me I
really don’t know but some of them might be potential terrorist according to
this film.
Before I went into the theatre I
said this to a friend
“If Jameel was a Bhand then Danial Kareen’s
latest film would be “Sky fall”.
This buddy of mine is a great fan of
Bond films but he had similar comments at the end of the show and I am sure
similar thought when he was watching it. It did feel like I am watching a new Pakistani film made in Hollywood. The script writer might have
watched a little too many Pakistani stage plays before writing the script.
I do
want to ask this why is it that the mirror scene form Bruce lee film “Enter The
Dragon” in the opening title and the underground train derailed scene were important.
Honestly I have only 2 reasons. Firstly the Mirror scene, it is either that the
director is obsessed with the scene or there is nothing better he could visualize
in terms of breaking the image. Because to break a person you break his/her
image. The second scene with the train and all, well it seems like action
sequence now a days are so many that it is hard to image a new one so everyone
tries to copy this one.
